BEIJING  SLANG

1.Kōu ménr—xiǎo qì, lìn sè

抠门儿—小气,吝啬【stingy;miserly】

eg: ①He’s very tight with his money

Tā huā qián hěn kōu ménr.

他花钱很抠门儿

②He is very stingy, he won’t give one more cent if you want a dime.

 

2.Tào jìn hu—gǎo hǎo guān xi

套近乎—搞好关系【try to get in with somebody ; close relationship with…】

eg: She tried to make friends with a dog.

Tā shì zhe hé yì zhī gǒu tào jìn hu.

她试着和一只狗套近乎

Be friendly, but not overly casual or familiar.

Yào yǒu shàn,dàn shì bú yào guò dù sú biàn huò tào jìn hu.

要友善,但不要过度随便或套近乎.
